Capitol Reef Ledges

Location: Utah, Capitol Reef National Park

The Rim overlook trail was my favorite. At dawn, I was the only day-hiker parked at the trailhead. Although it was Easter week, I had the trail to myself. At noon I paused under a pinyon tree to have lunch with this view of the trail ahead. Because I filled the camera memory card with this final shot, painting it once I got home cemented the experience of wonder and solitude of the day.
